MakersLoft is Kolkata’s first ‘makerspace’ where Designers, Techies, Tinkerers, Hobbyists, Artists and Artisans come to create amazing products that they could not have done by themselves.

A ‘makerspace’ is a combination of an enabling community and physical space where professionals, students and hobbyists get access to professional tools, learn how to use those tools, meet and collaborate with other talented individuals to make things that matter to them and their community.

Students: to acquire skills that will be relevant in the workplace of tomorrow, to have a deeper engagement in arts and science

Professionals: to work on projects individually or with others, tinker with new ideas, upgrade skills to improve career prospects, network and get advice

Hobbyists/Tinkerers/Makers: express their creativity and passion, meet like minded people

Equipment: Access to high quality professional tools and equipment like 3D printers, laser cutters, etc. that people might not have easy access to otherwise.

Workspace: Workstations and benches to work on projects and collaborate with others. Fully equipped with wifi, conference room, display gallery, pantry, washroom etc.

Training: Hands-on skill development from basic handling of professional equipment to Do-It-Yourself (DIY) home projects to professional photography, art, audio and video production, to software, electronics and robotics. In addition to local experts, we will be inviting experts from India and abroad to share train and work with members. Certifications shall be provided on successful completion of training.

Workshop & Events: Like exhibitions, art installations, lectures by visiting experts, meet-up space for the makers community

Networking: Meet people who have complementary skills sets and get access to cool projects and events that others might be involved with. For example, a fashion designer and an electronics engineer coming together to create ‘smart clothing’ like interactive T-shirts, or a useful invention for an elderly aunt or air-conditioned clothing to beat Kolkata heat.

Collaboration: Get help from other members and our staff on skills, advice and technical help. MakersLoft is meant to be a non-competitive environment where people help each other succeed.

Be part of the global Maker Movement: We plan to collaborate regularly with local, national, and international organizations and groups who share similar ideals on projects, hackathons, online promotion of member projects, and more.

Storage: On-site storage for project materials and finished products

Others: Wifi, we also have a couch!
