店主说，我店铺的商品，每天被很多人看过，虽然他们目前不购买，但是留下了非常深刻的印象，将来都能转化为收入。商品被人看的次数，也就是互联网有多少网页被打开过，这个叫PV （Page View），通常又叫浏览量。为了增加PV，张三在店铺门口摆放了几本美女图册，路过的客人，每人翻10几页，PV瞬间翻倍了。这也是门户资讯时代，编辑为了完成PV任务，将美女图集分成几十页，每页一张图的常见办法。另外还有很多作弊的方法，比如在页面里加几行代码，网页就能自动刷新，PV的数字可以根据需要一直膨胀下去。
但即便是真实填写了资料的天量用户，如果这些用户都不再次来访了，就基本是死用户了。只有活的用户，才有持续的商业价值。因此，每日活跃用户数DAU（Daily Active Users）、每月活跃用户数MAU（Monthly Active Users）以及季度、年度活跃用户数就更有参考意义了。后来手机接入互联网成为主流后，DAU和MAU已经不需要考虑注册与否的问题，因为没多大区别。DAU 和 MAU目前已成为衡量一个网站或者App的核心指标。
为了更细化活跃用户的变化趋势，还可以引入新增日活、新增月活，以及留存率这样的指标。留存率简单理解就是新增加的用户里，有多少留存下来。用来评价产品的易用性、吸引力、用户预期一致性和推广效果，留存率非常关键。在推广方面，还有一个指标叫流量获取成本TAC（Traffic Acquisition Costs），常年付费从第三方购买入口的企业，通常报表上直接单独披露该项目的支出。另外也可以按单个新增用户的成本计算，也就上需要花费多少钱，才能买来一个用户。
互联网公司逐渐产生营收甚至利润后，一些传统的商业指标也通用起来，诸如付费率、复购率、毛利率、净利润、存货周转率、单用户消费额等。在网络游戏和秀场直播企业中，使用较多的是平均每用户贡献的收入 ARPU（Average Revenue Per User），这个分母包括了所有用户，有时候也只统计活跃用户。分母也可以只是产生了付费的用户，也即ARPPU（Average Revenue Per Paying User)——平均每付费用户贡献的收入。这些指标可以评价单用户的价值，一家卖游艇的商店，和一家卖日用百货的商店，DAU、MAU的比较是没有意义的，因为单用户贡献的收入天渊之别。
电商公司，还有一个常用的指标——GMV（ Gross Merchandise Volume），也即总成交额。对于天猫、拼多多这样的商业地产模式的电商平台来说，GMV不是公司的营收，其中绝大部分属于开店的各商家，电商平台拿到的部分，用一个 Take Rate 来衡量，原意为转换率，电商里通常可以理解为佣金比例。
总言之，繁多的指标，各有利弊，都是为了预估企业将来能做多大，可以赚多少钱。比如，一家企业现在日活（DAU）1亿，但是收入不多，甚至还在亏损，可能也会被估值百亿美元以上；另外一家企业现在营收和利润都很好，但是日活几乎没有增长，而且用户付费率和ARPU值都高于行业均值，会被认为没什么增长空间了，可能只被给予几倍市盈率的估值。此外，各种数据，都无法避免造假的可能，我们需要根据其在行业的相对地位、App Store 排行、下载和评论数量等对照判断。（梁剑 发表于雪球）
